Sam Allison
Sam is the co-founder of CTW, L.L.C., which owns and operates 18 Wendy’s restaurants located in Central Texas. He is a member of the Waco Business League, a board member of KWBU and a member of the Leadership Council of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Sam and his wife Sharon have been married 49 years.
Sherman Ayres
S.R. Ayres & Associates, Business Consultancy

Sherman has a broad and extensive background in corporate management. He was employed by Mars Inc. for over 30 years with corporate manufacturing responsibilities for some of their most enduring brands, including Snickers, Starburst and Skittles Confectionary products and Pedigree, Whiskas and Cesar Pet foods. Sherman has served on numerous boards, among them the Tadpole Foundation, Cameron Park Zoological Society and the MCC Commercial Music Department.

Betty Bauer
Community Volunteer
Betty brings extensive nonprofit experience and knowledge to our board of trustees. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology.  She is the Chairman of the Family Selection Committee for Habitat for Humanity and has served in this capacity for almost 10 years.  She also serves on the boards of Communities in Schools, Caritas, MCC Foundation, WISD Education Foundation and Planned Parenthood, to name a few.  Betty and her family  mentor a 6 year old boy name Phillip who is a previous Talitha Koum student.  Betty has been honored for her volunteerism by several organizations, and she continues to be an asset in our community.
Steve Cates
Community Volunteer

Steve brings his vast experience in management and finance to Waco Foundation. Steve is the former President/CEO of Texas Life Insurance Company, which was founded in 1901 and was the very first life insurance company chartered in the State of Texas. His board service has included the Public Improvement District, Providence Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and the United Way. He and his wife, Darlene, have dedicated themselves to serving our community and both provide valuable leadership and experience to each organization they serve.

Cara Chase, Chair
Naman, Howell, Smith and Lee, PLLC
Cara, a partner of Naman, Howell, Smith and Lee, LLP, contributes expertise in elder law, estate planning, probate, guardianship and trust law to the board of trustees. She is a frequent lecturer to professional and community groups and is the past President of the Waco-McLennan County Young Lawyers Association. Cara is involved in a variety of philanthropic activities, serving on the board of many nonprofit organizations and volunteering at her daughters’ school.
Kyle Deaver
Deaver and Deaver
Kyle currently serves as the mayor of Waco.  He is also a partner in the law firm of Deaver and Deaver, the co-owner of Harley-Davidson of Waco, an owner of American Guaranty Title and an owner/director of American Bank. Kyle has served as chair of the boards of St. Paul’s Episcopal Day School and Vanguard College Preparatory School.  He and his wife Diane have volunteered in many local civic and youth organizations.
Malcolm Duncan, Jr., Secretary/Treasurer
Duncan Motors, Inc.
Malcolm is a celebrated community leader previously serving as the mayor of Waco and past city councilman. Malcolm received his BBA form the University of Texas and is the current president of Duncan Motors, Inc. Malcolm has extensive civic leadership experience and has served as a board member of Waco-McLennan County Health District, McLennan County Library Foundation, Chamber of Commerce and Waco Business League.
Monte Hulse
The First National Bank of Central Texas
Monte brings a wealth of banking and management knowledge to Waco Foundation's Board of Trustees. The Baylor graduate is the Chairman of the Board at The First National Bank of Central Texas, a position he has held for over 20 years. Monte has extensive experience serving the Waco community. He has served as the president of the boards of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, Waco Industrial Foundation, and Waco Business League.
Kris Kaiser Olson, Vice-Chair
Community Volunteer
Kris grew up in Waco, attended Waco public schools and earned a B.S. in Education from Baylor University.  Her work as an advocate for children and families spans across board service with organizations such as Texans Care for Children, Planned Parenthood of Central Texas, the McLennan Community College Foundation, and the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children (to name just a few).  Kris is married to Charles D. Olson, an attorney, and they have two adult daughters.
Chris McSwain
Photographer & Community Volunteer
Chris has lived in Waco for more than 30 years. A graduate of Louisiana State University, Chris practices family and commercial photography. She has extensive nonprofit experience and currently serves on the Oakwood Cemetery Board and as a volunteer for Indian Spring Middle School. She has previously served as a board member for various local organizations including Compassion Ministries, Waco Animal Welfare Advisory Board and Communities in Schools.
