Community Impact
The MAC College Money Program strives to make college more affordable so every McLennan County student can earn a degree.
The MAC Program provides two funding opportunities for McLennan County students through the MAC Grant for high school seniors and the MAC Scholarship for college students. There are specific eligibility requirements and application processes for the MAC Program.
MAC Grant for High School Seniors:
High school seniors in McLennan County are eligible to apply for the need-based MAC Grant after submitting the FAFSA or TASFA. The MAC Grant awards up to $1,000 per semester for up to four semesters at McLennan Community College or Texas State Technical College to cover the gap between Pell Grant (or other free financial aid) and the cost of tuition.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Graduating senior at a McLennan County high school
- Resident of McLennan County
- Completed FAFSA or TASFA
- Adjusted gross family income of less than $50,000 and demonstrated financial need
Application Process:
The 2021 MAC Grant application opens on October 1, 2021. Applicants will be notified if they were accepted or declined by the end of May 2022. If you have any questions about the application process please contact the MAC Program at 254.752.9457 or mac@wacofoundation.org.
MAC Scholarship for College Students:
Students accepted into the MAC Program as high school seniors and are continuing into their third and fourth year of college are eligible to apply for the $5,000 MAC Scholarship in the school year they expect to earn 60 college credit hours.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Accepted into the MAC Program as a high school senior
- Expect to complete 60 college credit hours by the end of your college sophomore year
- Maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
Application Process:
The MAC Scholarship is $5,000 for a student’s third and fourth year of college divided into $1,250 per semester for a maximum of four semesters or until the student receives his or her bachelor’s degree. Eligible students who expect to have a 3.0 GPA or higher and 60 college credit hours by the end of their college sophomore year should apply by June 1.
The MAC Program will begin reviewing MAC Scholarship applications soon after the June 1 deadline and will contact students to set up a time for an interview during winter break before the beginning of the spring semester. Final decisions for the MAC Scholarship will be made after transcripts are submitted on June 1 reflecting grades through the end of the spring semester. All applicants who are either accepted or declined will be notified by mail or email soon after June 1.
Full-Tuition Baylor Scholarship:
Each year, Baylor University provides full-tuition scholarships for the three MAC Scholarship recipients who have the highest GPA that intend to transfer from McLennan Community College to Baylor.
