The LeadershipPLENTY® Institute-Waco celebrated the eighth graduating class of leadership participants at a ceremony held at The Cooper House on March 20, 2019.
The graduation ceremony, sponsored by the Today’s Action Tomorrow’s Leaders Steering Committee and co-hosted by Cooper Foundation and Waco Foundation, marked the eighth round of this transformational leadership development program. Mayor Kyle Deaver addressed the 40 graduates and their friends, family and other attendees. Graduates also received a copy of the What About Waco documentary DVD that was written and directed by Baylor graduate Christopher Charles Scott and co-produced by Hobby Howell and Matthew R. McLeod.
The LeadershipPLENTY® Institute-Waco is designed for people of varying backgrounds, occupations and experiences who are passionate about improving the local community and developing and enhancing their own leadership skills. With the current class of graduates, the program has trained over 244 community members using ten instruction modules that equip participants with critical leadership skills such as managing conflict, meeting facilitation and management, communicating effectively, building community partnerships, and culminates in a module that addresses the challenge of facing racism in our community.
The LeadershipPLENTY® Institute-Waco was established through the Today’s Action Tomorrow’s Leaders steering committee to identify, develop, and equip leaders who represent the rich diversity of the greater Waco area. Waco Foundation proudly underwrites and administers the LeadershipPLENTY® Institute as part of the Foundation’s commitment to improving quality of life for everyone in our community.
